Concord Real Estate Guide

Capitol City – and quite a gem!

Your Concord Real Estate Guide is excited to welcome you to the city you didn’t know you were meant to live in! With a population of about 44,000 people, it is a fantastic small city with large city amenities. Somehow Concord manages to keep the feel of a small town while being a hub of community activity and very politically engaged – on both local and national levels. And, as mentioned – Concord is the Capitol of New Hampshire!

Typical to the New England area, lots of history in the area. Concord was first settled in 1725, grew in substance and prominence through the Revolutionary War, and continues to thrive to this day. The 1819 State House is the oldest capitol in the nation, and the front lawn plays host to loads of community activities. The capitol building is often referred to as “The People’s House”.

Known for quarrying (New Hampshire is “The Granite State”), carriage making, Shaker establishments, and political prowess, Concord continues to progress and develop.

America’s Hometown – Quality of Life!

Depending on where you are moving from, you might think Concord is a long way from anything and everything. NOT TRUE! This Concord Real Estate Guide is happy to speak about the “three biggies within an hour” that will be heard many a time here, but also a core reason why Concord is so awesome!

  1. The ocean … about an hour away. The Atlantic in all its glory and beauty, head east out of town until you see the coast!
  2. The mountains … about an hour away. The White Mountains have some of the highest peaks in New England. Enjoy covered bridges, scenic drives, winter activities, hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, fall color, and so much more!
  3. Boston … about an hour away. With a metro population nearing 5 million, Boston has so much to offer!

Location. Location. Location! All of this to say, Concord is consistently one of the top small cities for quality of life in the United States.

Let’s talk about some of those “Quality Factors” –

Quality of life appears in many ways to many people – charm of the city with impressive red brick buildings, independently owned businesses the primary focus of the local market, impressive and delicious ‘foodie” scene, beautiful seasons, nature galore, acclaimed schools, strong job market, and a tight-knit community. Whatever your focus, this Concord Real Estate Guide is confident you will want to call Concord home!

It is interesting how a city can reflect a casual, laid-back style, yet be at the forefront of the political stage. Perhaps part of this is the meld of people and activities the city offers. Relaxing yoga on the front lawn of the capitol, and yet the first in a series of nationwide party primary elections!

Concord has very few “chain” businesses. Your Concord Real Estate Guide sure enjoys the independent businesses in town. Some favorites include:

  • Gibson’s Bookstore located on Main Street, founded in 1898, it’s sort of a national treasure! Immersed in community, with a café, laundry list of activities and visiting authors, yep, it is “the place” to be!
  • Granite State Candy Shoppe founded in 1927 with family ownership and recipes. You like candy? Fudge? Nuts? Ice cream? It’s all here and it is all incredible and iconic!
  • Carter Hill Orchard is your source for apples, fruits, bakery, pumpkins, and veggies. Goods have been growing on this land since the 1700’s.
  • Revelstoke Coffee is local coffee and it is SO good!
  • Red River Theatres presents all types of cinema – new releases, documentaries, classics, etc. Inviting discussion and community culture awareness.

The seasons are distinct and gorgeous, and the outdoor activities are seemingly endless. Plenty of local parks, nearby state parks, and two national parks. For the best trail information, check the AllTrails app. For what to do – check your schedule and grab your gear (from walking shoes to kayaks to skis and everything in between!). With incredible views each direction, mountains, forests, bodies of water, trails, and nature to love – you will not be disappointed!

As your Concord Real Estate Guide, it is a must to mention food! The local pride in cuisine and offerings is upfront and center here. Just a nibble of some favorites:

The Barley House = best burger.

The Grazing Room = gold-level farm-to-table. Dinner you will remember!

Café Indigo = vegan baked goods. Yum!

Granite Restaurant = contemporary fine dining.

Concord is a melting pot of food flavors, you will be impressed and delighted!
